Polypores Of Southern Alabama

Found growing on dead and decaying trees and stumps, the polypores of southern alabama are abundant in the woods around here.  Certain species of polypores are also found existing on living trees here in south Alabama. They are decomposers of wood or they have a parasitic relationship with the wood they live on. Also, a lot of the polypore mushrooms are edible. Some of these mushrooms even have medicinal properties. Not to be overlooked, the polypores are an interesting species of mushrooms.
