Artist’s Conk Mushroom

The artist’s conk mushroom (Ganoderma applanatum) is one cool mushroom. It is prevalent here in south Alabama. The artist’s conk is one of the more recognized polypores due to fact that it is used as a canvas for drawings. Hence the Ganoderma applanatum common name, artist’s conk. Some preserve their artwork and sell at art shows and such.

I thought I would try a little artwork  myself. The picture below is the result of my effort. I am looking for more. If found, I plan on doing some more detailed art drawings. If so, I will do future posts displaying my Ganoderma applanatum art.
