Pineapple Bolete Mushroom

The Pineapple Bolete Mushroom is one of my favorites of the Boletes of southern Alabama. The pineapple bolete (Boletellus ananas) is an easily recognizable bolete due to it’s unique scaly surface on it’s cap. It is a beautiful mushroom, dark red then turning pinkish to tan in color with age. This particular bolete has aged to the pinkish color. The pineapple bolete is inedible.

I discovered this particular Pineapple Bolete Mushroom while mushroom hunting in south Alabama.
