Dog vomit slime mold is not a fungi. It is actually from the kingdom of Protista, as are all slime molds. Scrambled egg slime mold is another name that some people call it. Furthermore, the name itself grabs peoples attention the minute it’s mentioned. Strange looks follow.
I found this particular slime mold a few days ago while mushroom hunting in south Alabama. Upon close inspection, I found it interesting. After pondering this strange oddity, I came to a conclusion. To me, it does resemble a dog’s vomit.
