Low Cost Way To Build Rotating Barrel Composter
To build the Rotating Barrel Composter, first cut your door out to desired size. Next cut 4 round discs out of plywood. Two disc should be 6 inches in diameter and two should be 4 inches. These sizes can be changed and depends on the size of your barrel.
Next attach the door hinges and lock hasp.

The larger disc are bolted to the barrel using 4 bolts. The smaller disc are screwed onto the larger disc using deck screws. Be sure to get everything centered. Once installed, drill a hole through both discs and barrel on both ends. The size of the hole depends on the size of the rod used. Be sure to use a rod big enough to support the weight of the compost. I used a 1 inch rod.

The Rotating Barrel Composter Installed on the 4X4 posts. After setting the posts in concrete, I used a circular saw to notch the top of the posts 2 inches deep and 1 1/4 inches wide. This allows the rod to rest in the notch and rotate smoothly.

Finally, I spray painted the Rotating Barrel Composter flat black so it will absorb heat more readily and therefore compost faster.
