Starting Yoga

Yoga is comprised of various exercises, called asanas and each asanas targets different muscle groups. The first thing you will experience when starting Yoga is enhanced circulation, and that will naturally give you more energy and a feeling of ease, often referred to as a better quality of life. Another wonderful aspect of Yoga is how smooth it is, one move just flows to the next. Yes! No bouncing, no jerking, just smooth, gentle movements which provide the body a way to really get into the workout without being forced into positions that cause pain. And you don’t need expensive equipment to do Yoga, in fact you could even do some of the deep breathing exercises in bed before you start your day. With just ten or fifteen minutes a day you can really start to see a difference.

Before Starting:

Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach, however you should not feel hungry when starting the workout either. But if you need a snack before your workout, try eating a piece of your favorite fruit to tie you over. And if you can, practice Yoga in a quite place where you can focus on the exercise you are doing to get the full benefit of Yoga. And remember, if you are tight on time, consistency is more important than how long the workout is so even if you only have 5 minutes to do a few stretches or breathing exercises, great! Just stay consistent. It’s also a good idea to have a few workout videos handy so that you have a variety of workouts that vary in length and intensity.

Watch your body change, your mind relax and your posture improve with just 15 or 20 minutes of Yoga three or four times a week. How great would it be to be stress-free? And it’s possible, so how about grabbing a Yoga exercise video and taking a few minutes for yourself?
